KGV - Club Team Champions 2026

Congratulations to King George V

What a superb day of bowling at the Club Team Championship 2026, hosted at Meole Brace, Shropshire.

From a Warwickshire & Worcestershire perspective, it was a highly successful and memorable championship, with two clubs from the region reaching the final eight and making a significant impact on the national stage.

Both sides came into the national finals in strong form following impressive preliminary group performances. Boldmere Sports & Social topped their preliminary group, recording excellent wins over Castlefields, Willenhall Nordley and Copsewood. King George V also finished top of their section, overcoming Dudley Dell and Atherstone Cons, with their only setback coming in a narrow defeat against Sir John Bayley.

The final eight qualifying teams — Pudsey, King George V, Castle Sports BC, Windle BC, Gladstone BC, Boldmere Sports & Social, Fenton Private, and Woodlands Park Social — produced a superb standard of bowling throughout the day, played in excellent conditions and with a strong sense of sportsmanship.

In the quarter-finals at Meole Brace, Boldmere Sports & Social faced a strong Pudsey side, eventually bowing out after a hard‑fought contest, losing by 13 shots. Despite the result, reaching the last eight of such a competitive national field represented a gallant and creditable achievement.

Meanwhile, King George V continued their impressive run, defeating Windle by 10 shots in the quarter-finals to progress to the last four. They were then involved in another tightly contested encounter in the semi‑finals, edging past Pudsey by just one shot in a dramatic finish to book their place in the final.

The final against Gladstone BC proved to be a fitting conclusion to the championship — a thrilling match in which the lead changed hands on several occasions as every end was keenly contested. In a tense finale that went right down to the wire, King George V emerged victorious by just two points.

In doing so, King George V secured one of the first major national titles of 2026 for the Warwickshire & Worcestershire region, underlining the quality and strength of bowling within the counties.

Overall, it was a highly memorable Club Team Championship and a proud occasion for Warwickshire & Worcestershire bowling, with both regional representatives leaving a strong mark on the competition.
