Dave Allcock
In memoriam

t is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Mr David C Allcock, who died peacefully at 8:50pm on Friday 4th April. David was a deeply respected servant of the game and a highly valued figure within the bowling community.
David’s contribution to bowls, and in particular to Warwickshire & Worcestershire, spanned many years and was characterised by dedication, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the sport. Representing the counties with distinction, he served as BCGBA President in 1997, carrying out the role with dignity, fairness, and a deep respect for the traditions of the game.
His service at county level continued when he took on the role of Warwickshire & Worcestershire President in 2002 and 2003, further underlining the esteem in which he was held by fellow bowlers and administrators alike. Throughout his time in office, David was known for his calm manner, sound judgement, and his desire to see the game thrive at all levels.
David’s commitment did not end with presidency roles. He remained a Trustee of the BCGBA right up until his passing, continuing to give his time, knowledge, and experience in support of the association and the wider game he cared for so deeply. His willingness to serve for so long, and right to the very end, stands as a testament to his sense of duty and passion for bowls.
At club level, David played his bowls at New Inns Four Oaks, where he was a familiar, respected, and well‑liked presence. He will be remembered there not only for his contribution on the green, but for his sportsmanship, friendship, and the example he set to others.
Above all, David will be remembered as a true gentleman of the sport — someone who led by example, acted with integrity, and always placed the interests of bowls and its people before personal recognition. His legacy will live on through the many organisations he supported and the countless individuals who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
David’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 5th May at 1.00pm at Sutton Crematorium, and will be followed by a wake at Walmley Social from 2.30pm, where all are welcome to join in remembering and celebrating his life.
Our deepest condolences are extended to David’s wife, Margaret, and to all his family and friends at this difficult time.
David C Allcock will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
